Let’s Go to Prison (2006)

IMDB rating: 5.60

Plot: John Lyshitski is a car stealing slacker, with a weed problem, and has been in Illinois’ Rossmore State Penitentiary so many times, he knows it’s entire population of both staff and cons by their fast names. Cursed with the old ill luck of being in the wrong place, at the wrong time, in possession of the wrong car, he’s been deemed a lost cause repeat offender in the eyes of everyone else. When the heartless judge, who has been behind most of his sentences, goes to the big court house in the sky, John decides to ruin the man’s legacy by having the judge’s only offspring, Nelson Biederman IV, thrown in the slammer along with him. Here, the world-class selfish jerk learns a certain old lesson the hard way: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. But has John somewhat gone too far in the payback department?

Please, law enforcement officers only.Your opinion on the Legalization of Drugs.?
Think about it,no knee-jerk responses.Lets face it,the situation is out of control.Wouldn’t this at least allow us to get a handle on the problem?Remove the black market, simply crush huge drug cartels, starve violent local street gangs into extinction.Along with a "Vice Tax", I believe we would see the same effect as we are seeing with tobacco. The revenues generated could support a variety of related issues,as well as relieving the tax payers burden, lower prison populations. It goes on and on.
I appreciate all your answers,I hope we will see more input from others. At which time I will have another related question,so stay tuned in.This is a debate which is long over due.

Drugs legalized means a dramatic reduction in DEA related jobs, so cops will oppose it.

That and lots of other reasons.

The government makes a lot of money prosecuting drug crimes especially petty possession. The government spends a lot of the people’s money paying for law enforcement and prosecution.

So, don’t count on legalization any time soon it would lead to a lot of unemployed police, prosecutors, court employees, prison employees, and lawyers.
RockIt | Feb 05, 2010

They will never legalize drugs… and that is a fact . If they did there would be lots of cops out of jobs the money the gov gets from prosecuting minor drug charges would dry up and the Lawyers would scream bloody murder ..Legalizing drugs would be like ending all drunk driving charges .. Just too much money at stake .. Think about it when the money dries up the cops hit the street and will write you a ticket for anything they can find .. Brings in revenue
Larry G | Feb 05, 2010

It needs to stay illegal. We don’t mess with casual drug users anyway. There have been MANY of occasions that I knew darn well that someone I was questioning was in possession of pot, I could smell it in their cars and on their person… But if they aren’t causing a problem, I won’t mess with it…. send them on their way.

Where it being illegal comes into play is when they are problematic…Possesion of a controlled substance is an easy way to tap on extra penalties to criminals. You want to run on me, not only are you getting an obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and fleeing the scene of a crime, but you are also getting possession of a controlled substance. If you want to be a punk about it… I’m going to hammer it all on you.

The other benefit of it being illegal is it helps keep it out of schools. At a young age, it works as a deterrent. If it were legal, I have no doubt that drugs would be running rampart though the school system. And that isn’t a time where drugs should be a priority.

I also don’t believe for a second that legalizing drugs would crush huge drug cartels or the black market. If you tax the drugs, then the black market woudl have the upper hand. Since they woulnd’t be taxing it on the black market, black market drugs would be cheaper. If you were a drug user, where would you buy your drugs… from the store at $8.00 a pack PLUS $5 in taxes… or from a black market dealer for $8 a pack?

Legalizing drugs won’t solve any problems.
boomn4×42 | Feb 05, 2010

I’m a cop.

All of this "the government makes soooo much money prosecuting drugs" stuff is pure BS. The goverment loses millions and million of dollars every year prosecuting drug cases, trust me, I see it everyday. You think the government collects enough in fines to offset the costs of prosecution? Not a chance. The govenment spends 1.2 billion dollars per year incarcerating drug offenders. What happens when you try to fine a junkie in court? You get squat, they have nothing.

Then there is the moral aspect. Think about your 12 year old daughter having free reign to buy heroin at 7-11. "Well, it would be well regulated" right? Wrong, there is a current age for consumption of alcohol, and we all know how many kids are drinking underage right now and have no problem getting alcohol. School age kids could purchase heroin, cocaine, meth, heck, anything their wandering young mind thinks might be fun. If you don’t think it will happen, you are wrong.

Finally, the "money" argument. People argue that drugs would be dirt cheap and people would no longer steal, rob, and murder for drugs. Wrong. For most of the people reading this that have never stepped foot in the ghetto, I have news for you…..drugs are dirt cheap. Enough heroin or crack to get you high only costs between $5 and $10. It’s not going to get much cheaper than your average pack of cigarettes in reality. The problem with drug addicts, is when you are addicted to drugs you normally either lose your job, simply don’t care about working, or don’t make enough to support your habit and pay your bills anyway (celebrities have proven this - they have millions). It doesn’t matter if you heroin "only" costs $5, when you have no money at all, and at some point they all have no money and the need for a fix. This leads right back to stealing, robbing, murder, etc.

It’s not going to happen. Maybe marijuana could be legalized, fine. However you cannot legalize drugs like Heroin, Meth and PCP. If you have ever seen a stone cold heroin junkie ( which many of you haven’t), you would agree with me.
John | Feb 05, 2010

Here’s how to legalize it.

In the words of Dale C. Carson, LEAVE YOUR DOPE AT HOME. Cops can’t get into your house without a warrant unless you invite them in. And if cops can’t see you toking a joint, they can’t arrest you for it.
Tony L | Feb 05, 2010

To RockIt. First off, the asker requested that cops only reply. As stated, the government loses a TON of money beacuse of drug cases. The only times that the government makes money is on smaller Marijuana cases because those are basically the only convictions punishable by a fine.

"Hard" drugs would be awful to legalize. As stated, hard core junkies are a nightmare to see, and if people could go and get crack and heroin at the local corner-mart, you would see a LOT of people overdosing and becoming addicts.

Marijuana, on the other hand would be a great drug to legalize. It would be awful to tax it right away, but that would be a great way to make money for the government. You’d kill the black market for it, and after a couple of years it would cut down on a LOT of related crimes, illegal immigration, and put a large dent in organized crime. Marijuana, while worse for your lungs than cigarettes (it burns at a much higher temperature, and the way it is smoked and held in makes it more dangerous) is probably less damaging (long term) than alcohol, and I’ve never heard of a father being abusive to his family after smoking a joint.

I think it would be an excellent idea, and tax revenue could go to help with our sick defecit, and could even pay to increase law enforcement and anti-drug programs. California has legalized it for medicinal purposes, and should absolutely continue in that direction for recreational purposes.

Definitely in favor of legalizing marijuana.

Plot: Scientist Peyton Westlake is working on a project to create synthetic skin. Now the skin he has developed has a flaw—it will not remain stable for more than 99 minutes. His girlfriend, Julie, a lawyer is investigating a developer. She leaves some incriminating documents at Peyton’s. One night Peyton was working when the lights in his lab went out, he then discovers that the synthetic skin has remained stable past 99 minutes, he deduces that it’s because of light that the skin doesn’t remain stable. And it is at that moment that a psychotic criminal, Robert Durant appears demanding the documents that Julie left there. They beat up Peyton, and after finding the documents they blow up Peyton’s lab. Peyton was blown away and everybody believes he is dead but in reality, he was found, burned seriously and a new procedure was performed on him that renders him unable to sense pain, he also now has tremendous strength and is now prone to violent outbursts. He is now working on perfecting the synthetic skin and at the same using his technology to make synthetic skin masks of the men who attacked him so that he could strike back at them.

i have a lot of "books" in my head that i made up myself but idk how to express them in the 8th grade. tips?
i made up a lot of stories. i even have a 7-book series about a bounty hunter stored in my head. i have a lot more too. one is about a man who equips his house with loads of weaponry and defense to hide from the government, with no way in, no way out. i call it "fortress". yeah pretty brief. another is about a group of teens that got stripped of their emotion and basically turned into indestructable robots, with the same appearance as a human. one of them escaped before their emotion was taken away but he’s still indestructable, and towards the middle you realize that escapee was the main character. i named it "Perfect". My last one isn’t action, it’s about people that paint on the walls of an abandoned subway tunnel to ease the stresses of life away. i call it "NY tunnel painters." now my favorite, the bounty hunter series "Bounty", is made of 7 books: Bounty, Bounty: Masked Accomplice, Bounty: The Parallel, Bounty:(TBA), Bounty: Darkman, Bounty: The Steel Army (subject to change) Bounty: Cyanide, Bounty: Death Ray. All about a bounty hunter that actually only hunts in the first book, who lives in las vegas (las vegas gets destroyed in the last one). Cyanide may be a little dissapointing, for the main character sort of turns into a monster type thing when he falls asleep, and doesn’t know it. please give me some feed on this, and tips on how to express it. thanks.

ps sorry it was so long

OOH you’re just like me! I decided it was time to get it all out and started typing it all up in Word my books are a Trilogy
Scales
Shells
and
Bubbles
It is hard to begin them and I have NO idea how they end but I know the main parts and it is easy to embelish upon there.
The only hard part is it is not as perfect as it is in your mind and you have to revise OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! My story now seems a bit dull in my eyes but all my friends love it. I think it is because I have read and reread it in my head and on paper so many times. But TRUST ME! it definatly worth it!! Other wise it naws and naws at you until you HAVE to do something about it.

Jellybean | Sep 08, 2009

Well, as good as a story might be, it’s pointless unless you get it out on paper. You should start jotting down notes, the basics and what you know. Then after that, you just sort things out and begin writing. Don’t think too much about it, or what’s going to happen in ALL the books just yet. Take it one step at a time. Forget the rest of the books until you reach that point, you know? Stop thinking so much into the future of your books if you haven’t even started. Good luck.

What Are The Top 5 Books Sold World-Wide?
Okay, so I’m quite the reader. I’ve read Gone With The Wind, Jane Austen Books, Charles Dickens Books, Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil, Harry Potter, The Inheritance Cycle, The Ink Series, The Twilight Saga, The House Of Night Series, and a plethora more. So this got me wondering, I started reading Diary Of A Young Girl By Anne Frank, and my mom told me that it sold the most copies in the world. Is that true? And if so, what other books follow it? I would appreciate it if you answered. Thanks.

Love, Your Angelic Vampyre

the top three, two of which you have already read, are Anne frank’s diary, harry potter, and the bible; king james version.
moniquew93 | Feb 04, 2010

"Quotations from Chairman Mao" is the most sold book of all time, but that’s because at one time everyone in China was forced to own a copy. Barring that, it’s the Bible.

If you want the top selling fiction book (not counting the Bible, in my opinion), it’s "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. Then Tolkien’s "Lord of the Rings".

Anne Frank’s diary has only third about 30,000,000 copies. That’s less than the 45,000,000 copies of "Charlotte’s Web" that have been sold.

Shouldn't it be Politically Correct to tell those telling you how to raise your kids to go take a Flying F#%*?
All of a sudden it seems completely appropriate to tell someone how to raise their kids. I think those telling you how to raise your kids are poor example of adults that were raised wrong. I don’t want my kids turning out like them so I certainly don’t want to take their advice.

I don’t care if they are the editor of the ultimate parents magazine or have to pull a wagon to carry their boatload of child development PhD’s, these people are NOT how I want my kids to turn out. Most of us know about Spock and his personal life, so these experts don’t impress me in the least. My mother and father could stick these so-called experts nose in the dirt every time I hear them open their insulting blabber-lips (yeah, ok, so it’s a new word I made up for the occasion).

What am I talking about? I’m talking about this article:

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/parenting /is-it-okay-to-talk-about-your-daughters -weight-if-it-s-for-the-national-good-57 9635/

Where the journalist thinks the mother, Michelle Obama, should not have publically said the doctor said her daughters were overweight. You know the routine… "fragile stage of development at this age"… "hormones raging" … "self conscious, insecure"… awkward age"… etc.

It’s every parenting author’s wet dream to convince a parent that he/she was never a child, never watched his/her parents raise them, or even slightly picked up a thing from all the other relatives, grandparents, etc., because the reader needs an "expert" to teach them how to raise a child. To convince the reader they are not an expert, the author will paint a picture of a young teen (uh, talking about your child, Mr. Mrs. reader) just one step away from suicide and two steps away from mass murder.

Of course in Obama’s case, her kids are just a step a way of anorexia or bulimia. And poor Michelle did it to them by simply opening her mouth. Now it is going to be a life of anorexia for the girls, in and out of treatment centers, a different psychiatrist every month, and probably on to crack and dying in a methamphetamine lab explosion.

I never bought the concept that it takes a village to raise a child either. I didn’t see Hillary jetting off her kid to Pakistan to be raise by remote villagers. I think these imbecile ideas come to you when you sleep. She was probably dreaming that if Bill and her lived in a village, the village would keep an eye on him. And by the time you are fully awake you have the dream so screwed up that anything is possible you’d come up with.

I think "common sense" doesn’t exist anymore. For instance, did you know that Anorexia is in epidemic proportions? That’s what the politically correct would say. The complete opposite person… you know, the one with common sense will say, "Hell no, the epidemic in America is fat people. Most people are dying here because they are too fat, not because they are too skinny."

Anyway, what pulled my chain?… reading a little about the author, Mira Jacob.

She said, "Most recently, I was the editorial director for a green and healthy living website, Lime.com, where I spent a lot of time trying to negotiate between what is right and what is realistic. Could there be any better preparation for motherhood? I don’t think so."

I love this anal PC indoctrination… you know, there is no "wrong," just "right and realistic." Let me stick a finger down my throat and puke my guts up so I’ll feel better!

I can answer that question in three notes… the "better preparation for motherhood" part….
How about looking up to find your four year old standing on your new Persian rug holding himself blubbering because he wet himself as the puddle forms at his feet until you can translate his blubbering into, "His three year old sister won’t let him use the bathroom because she is giving the dog a bath in the toilet."

That’s basic training and you are not even issued live ammunition until later.

For the PC crowd: Substitute raised with reared and fat with obese.

Turn Rant OFF.

Help me in this? I luv you guys! 10 easy points?
In the heavy pouring rain, Brianna shuffled her way through he leaves to the nearest bus stop. Wet path ran down her cheeks even before it started to rain. She was actually crying. The tiny droplets of tears from her rosy cheeks splattered onto the puddle of the ground. The whistling wind blew her long honey blonde hair in front of her eyes. She reached and pulled the lock of wet hair out of her face. Her sea blue eyes which was as clear as water, popped out, making her look like an owl.

At a distance came her bus slow like an elephant. She hesitated and walked front to halt the bus. The tyres of the bus screeched, loud as a thunder and sudden halted in front of Brianna. The door slowly opened, creaking. Brianna stepped in, biting her shiny red lips and punched her ticket as she walked in, with her mind blank.

Help me improve this. Do you think this is good enough for 14 year old with 2nd language english.

A few spelling/grammar errors:

"…shuffled her way through he leaves" should be "the".

"Wet path ran down her cheeks" What do you mean by "path"? It should be plural either way.

"Her sea blue eyes which was as clear as water" was should be were. I’d also take out the "which were" part.

"tyres" should be tires.

Other than grammar, there are a few things you could improve.

The first paragraph is a little meh. Try to come up with a more original description of crying. Other than that it’s okay.

The second paragraph, try to write more clearly. Your sentence structure is a little wacky, like "At a distance came her bus slow like an elephant". A less confusing arangement might be "Like a [insert adjective for slow her] elephant, her slow bus came [towards her through the ________]". Just a little less confusing.

I think the main problem is you add in too many extra words, like "which" and "with". Just let the writing flow.

Good luck!
Jinx | Feb 04, 2010

its pretty well constructed, there are just a few points i have to make… Firstly don’t use the same word twice in the same sentence/couple of sentences… "At a distance came her bus slow like an elephant. She hesitated and walked front to halt the bus. The tyres of the bus screeched, loud as a thunder and sudden halted in front of Brianna." you have used halt twice, try using a word like stop or signal in the first sentence "she hesitated and walked to the kerb to signal the bus"

there are a few other mistakes but generally good… what do you mean by ‘wet path ran down her cheeks" do you mean, "two lines of tears streamed down her cheeks"?
dboy | Feb 04, 2010

I think "shuffled her way through he leaves" should be "shuffled her way through the leaves" but I think that’s just a typo, I do that all the time accidentally ^_^

I’d put "A" at the beginning of the sentence "Wet path ran down her cheeks even before it started to rain."

Use "into" instead of "onto" in the "The tiny droplets of tears from her rosy cheeks splattered onto the puddle of the ground."

Tyres should be spelled tires and a bit after that I think "sudden" should be "suddenly".

I hope I don’t sound like I’m really criticizing…I think it’s really good though! I love it =D

Are Global Warmers still devoted? The IPCC based its claims on a Student paper and a magazine article?
With each passing day, the whole Climate Change hysteria is looking like first class junk science. The UK Telegraph reports today that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) based its claims about disappearing ice on mountaintops on a student paper and a magazine article.

How many billions have western nations sunk into the IPCC??

From the UK Telegraph:

"In its most recent report, it stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was being caused by global warming, citing two papers as the source of the information.
However, it can be revealed that one of the sources quoted was a feature article published in a popular magazine for climbers which was based on anecdotal evidence from mountaineers about the changes they were witnessing on the mountainsides around them.
The other was a dissertation written by a geography student, studying for the equivalent of a master’s degree, at the University of Berne in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps.
The revelations, uncovered by The Sunday Telegraph, have raised fresh questions about the quality of the information contained in the report, which was published in 2007."

I am. I’ve lived long enough in the same area to notice the climate changing. It’s really happening.

Perhaps instead of focusing on discrediting minor side-stories concerning the global warming issue, global warming deniers could address climate data from the entire 20th century which clearly shows a general warming trend.

According to the IPCC ALL of its "data" has at BEST been of that sort of quality. They’ve NEVER even pretended otherwise. For the love of God, they even reported that they tested several competing climate models and chose the LEAST accurate one - that did WORSE than a random number generator. Yeah. They SAID SO right up front.

To prove it was murder, she enlists the services of private eye Rigby Reardon. He finds a slip of paper containing a list of people who are “The Friends and Enemies of Carlotta.” Searching for answers, Rigby encounters assorted low-lifes: dangerous men and women who were the hallmarks of the classic detective movies of the 40’s and 50’s. Filming in black and white allows scenes from old movies to be cut into this film. It is through this process that Rigby’s assistant is none other than Philip Marlowe himself.

Thee most brilliant comedy script ever. Edith Head’s last film. One Carl Reiner’s best directing efforts. Amazing cinematography matching lighting and angles with films 40 years old (at the time). Zelig had it’s moments but Plaid took the concept to the highest state of the art.

Scared about boyfriend going to college, details inside (would especially appreciate advice from guys)?
Alright so I’m 16 and my boyfriend is 18 in his senior year of high school (I’m a junior). He just found out he was accepted into his dream school (RIT Tech in upstate NY). I truly am happy for him and would never even think about stopping him but I guess I never realize how truly afraid I would be until now. My boyfriend has never given me any reason not to trust him, we’ve been together 2 years and he’s always been loyal and devoted, I truly believe that, and it’s not always easy since we live almost 2 hours away from eachother and only get see eachother about once a month. I made the mistake of cheating on him and dumping him for some guy last summer, it wasn’t sex or anything, just a kiss (some people won’t call it cheating but I do) and after that I stupidly went out with the guy I cheated on him with for about a month and went back. I was young and I guess I just had the need to be with other guys, explore a little, but than I realized for the first time that what I had with him was beginning to get stronger and that’s when I fell in love with him. I was up front with him the second it happened, when I got home I immediately told him what I’d done and even then he wanted to be with me, I guess all I’m trying to say is he’s the perfect guy. I’m not really a prying kind of girl, I don’t check his phone or look up his internet history or accuse him of cheating but I’ve been thinking. I’ll be here in Massachusetts while he’s in upstate NY. How often are we realistically going to see eachother over those 4 years? There are bound to be plenty of attractive girls at college. Luckily he doesn’t drink and he’s not a party guy but there are so many worries that I have. Would he do it because he knows he can get away with it without me ever having the slightest chance of finding out? Would he do it as revenge for what I did almost a year ago? I’m almost 17 by the way now. I have no doubt that I want to be with him for the rest of my life, I’ve never feared that he would leave me and I’ve really never had any suspicions of cheating but now I’m not so sure, what do you think?

K i read up to the cheating part, all i got to say is you’re a horrible person for doing so and he should leave you, and i hope he does hahahahaha

to add to that yes kissing someone else when you’re in a relationship is cheating.
