If religion is not a form of brainwashing why doesn't it openly encourage people to question their faith?
The fundamentals of science teaches us to never stop questioning because that’s how we learn.
If religion is not brainwashing why does it discourage young minds from questioning the validity of their faith?
If faith is so brittle that it may fall to pieces by merely questioning it, then maybe some of us need to keep raising questions about it’s validity.
Lily….Don’t mean to be rude, but why did your God bless you with the power to reason and question if you are not prepared to utilize those qualities?
SHUB NIGGURATH……..So what’s behind the strategy of foisting belief into the mind of an infant child?
At what age do you encourage children to openly question their faith.
I know that is long after you have already brainwashed them.
P[roblem JPAS .ART……..Not at all!
What I am suggesting is brainwashing an infant child is exactly that!
Nothing at all to do with what I believe at all.
Brainwashing is brainwashing!
Do you understand the meaning of it?
anyone can question their faith.
I do, but not questioning that it is wrong, just looking further into it.

Does the government tell people to keep questioning their laws? If not then government is brainwashing.
Exodiafinder | Feb 08, 2010
Very good point.
If it cant stand up to questions it does not deserve to be the backbone of anyone’s existence.

Because religion is a form of brainwashing

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been discouraged from questioning the Bible, God, or Christianity in general.

Faith is Blind? Apparently not as blind as you…
No religion defies the questioning of your faith. Many encourage it.
This question is made of fail. Have a failboat.
Shub Niggurath | Feb 08, 2010
Since when is openly questioning science ever been encouraged? Anybody who questions evolution is called an idiot.

Well, the bible implies to question all things believe it or not … and ‘try’ all things .. you have a misconception of the intelligence of people that follow God .. its a plus not a minus my friend. The human brain is not capable of being wise by itself .. look around you.

Well said.

If philosophy is not a form of brainwashing, why doesn’t it openly encourage people to question their beliefs?
"The fundamentals of science teaches us to never stop questioning because that’s how we learn."
-Wrong, that’s skepticism. Science teaches us to use the scientific method to acquire knowledge.

It openly encourages one to question anothers faith.

u should want to ask questions…but my faith in God is strong…He cannot lie…and He wants abudant life for me…He loves His children…i dont mind asking Him questions…its about a personal relationship with God…not man made rules…read ur bible…pray…love Him and others and be obedient…this is what God wants…not that hard…

But faith is tenuous…. If everyone stopped believing, God would evaporate.
They can definitely question OTHER people’s beliefs, but never their own. They are brainwashed to defend their own and it is engrained that everyone else is wrong.

Churches need followers to stay an organization. So pushing followers to question can lead them to leave the group or actually turn against it.
Ultimately, it comes down to followers and money.

The same could be said of a lot of science. When a theory is held to be true and unchallenged for a long enough amount of time, it almost becomes religion. And any scientist who dares take on the convention will often face fierce opposition.
But I digress. I have no problem questioning the validity of any faith, including mine.

Tut tut.
Let’s say for a moment that the Bible doesn’t encourage people to learn. (It does, but let’s all play along).
The lack of a specific message saying "question your faith" is a whole lot different that a message saying "don’t question your faith".
Perhaps you skipped logic class (actually, I think I used that same line on one of your "questions" last week), but you might want to look over a truth table or two.

it does to question if they are following jesus or not
our faith is not brittle
its the assumptions people make that some thing is not true because i need physical evidence to believe in it.

You might read about the Bereans, they were praised because they always asked questions. I spent years researching and soul searching before I chose to become a Christian. You assume that because someone doesn’t agree with you they are brainwashed.
PROBLEM JPAS A.R.T. | Feb 08, 2010
Jesus isn’t religious. Jesus is very pure. Religion isn’t good for anyone. Religion is just something that people try to do to get to heaven. Jesus died for your sins. He isn’t trying to make you evil. He isn’t trying to make you wierd. He is the One who made a way for you to be forgiven.

Because, there is no such thing as Spirit washing.
Carnal minds cannot discern the Spirit of truth.
And, how does it feel not be called or chosen because of your reprobate mind?
Mainworry | Feb 08, 2010
The Bible does say its ok to ask questions. I’ve read a verse that says it in the BIble I just can’t remember where. God doesn’t want us to follow something blindly, that would be stupid.
I hate religion. Jesus is not religion and nethier is Christianity. The world thinks so, but its not true. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Nothing more, nothing less. Religion is what Satan uses to stray people from the truth and he has also decieved the world into thinking Jesus is in the religious category when he’s not. Religion is just a sneaky little tool that Satan uses to decieve. And its working.
Also, I have a question for you.- If you died right now, are you 100% SURE that you are going to Heaven? If you don’t know for SURE or if you have any questions about God, please feel free to email me.:)

You either have a lot to learn about the process of brainwashing or you have a lot to learn about precisely using terms. If you are a fan of science, I suggest that you research the first. Educate yourself. Then we might be able to have a productive discussion.
Universal Aardvark | Feb 08, 2010
It does.
1 John 4:1, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."
Questioning ones faith is not the same as questioning what one believes. many christians believe falsely, because they were taught falsely. many atheists that once believed fell into this category when they were believers. Since only 1% of mainstream churches teaches the word of God rightly divided, it is safe to say that 99% of church going people are taught something other than the truth for today. Doctrine needs to be dispensationally correct, as well as scripturally correct. The divisions that Gods placed into His word are dispensational divisions.
As far as faith, I hate to tell you this, but concerning spiritual things, science can not explain a damn thing….

I see Christians questioning Christianity all the time on here, and getting great answers.
Ask a question questioning evolution and see what happens. It’s like they’re scared.

The Bible does encourage us to search for the truth of God.
